Area Community Education and Training

The Area Community Education & Training was set up to provide education and training within a rural community.  It is a voluntary, non-profit making organisation whose centre is in the Old School Centre, Dunholme.  It has been funded by the TEC Discretionary fund, the Lincolnshire Country Work Scheme, National Charities and private finance.  After almost two years of planning it was opened for educational and training courses in May 1998. The centre is run by professional further education tutors.

The courses are for those seeking employment, or better employment, and for businesses although there are leisure leaning activities.  The aim is to give tuition at a basic foundation level to revise and update people’s knowledge of modern technology and business practices leading to higher academic achievements.

The classes are run during the day, evening and at weekends to suit most people. As most classes are computer orientated fourteen Multi-Media computers are installed running Windows  and Microsoft Office as well as ClarisWorks and Serif PagePlus.  There is also educational software suitable for children and youths as well as business packages.  All machines are connected to Broadband internet.

Dunholme Camara Club

The Dunholme Camara Club do have a dedicated building within the Dunholme Old School complex but because of the number of members find that it is too small for their needs. They hold many training sessions and lectures as well as internal and external competitions. The next competition is with the Lincoln Camera Club which is the second of the Lincolnshire Photographic Battles Competition.

Age Concern Luncheon Club

The Luncheon Club was set up from the outset of the Old School Becoming a Community Centre. Formed in 1985 by a committee of volunteers and some funding by Age Concern.

The club has a membership and takes in anyone in the community who is over 55 years of age. Thet can only take 32 members and there is currently a waiting list.
They meet every Tuesday for a 3 course lunch which is provided for a small fee. For those who have mobility problems a mini bus is provided to collect members from their homes.

Whist and Bingo

These activities are run by a sub-committee of the Dunholme Old School Centre Management Committee. Bingo is held every fortnight in the main hall straight after the Luncheon Club on a Tuesday at 1.45pm.  You do not need to be a member of the Luncheon club to attend and play.
